Congratulations go to Frances Castle whose work features in the Year of Cycling Exhibition from 6th July to 22nd August 2010, at the London Transport Museum. Frances’ work was one of 50 selected from over 1000 entries in the competition held at the London Transport Museum in conjunction with the Association of Illustrators.
Here are a few photos from the awards ceremony, held last night.
Here’s a little description of what inspired Frances to create her illustration “Cycle Revolution”:
‘The idea for this, came when looking at photos of vintage¬†bicycle cranks on¬†line. Many¬†cranks were elaborate affairs with the makers name cut into the circular design. I decided to¬†integrate London landmarks into the¬†crank in my illustration – so the cyclist is cycling round London literally.’
