Simon Bartram: Olive & The Dream Train Theatre Poster

Simon Bartram was commissioned by Theatre Alibi to illustrate this wonderful poster for their new play, Olive & The Dream Train, touring this Autumn. Theatre Alibi have an excellent reputation for bringing distinctive and contemporary stories to life and their latest theatre production is a play for five to eleven year old children, written by their Associate Writer, Daniel Jamieson. Olive & The Dream Train is a story about the value of creativity and a child’s eye view of the world that sees the wonder in ordinary life.

Olive finds it hard to concentrate. She’s always daydreaming about what’s going on inside her cat’s head, or about that weird picture above her bed showing a steam train puffing out of a fireplace… Then one day, on her way to school, a very odd train chugs into the station, it’s stuffed with olives and there’s no driver! So Olive boldly steps aboard and, WOOHOO! she’s driving her very own dream train and it can take her anywhere…

Simon’s surreal approach to the illustration fits the style and content of the play perfectly.

The show will tour primary schools (reaching around 12,000 children) and studio theatres in the South West as well as London’s Lyric Hammersmith. The studio theatre tour kicks off at Warwick Arts Centre on October 13th – for more information on the venues and dates, take a look at Theatre Alibi’s website here.
