Our friends at Discover are hosting their 3rd Big Write Festival 3 – 13th March where authors, illustrators, artists and storytellers take over the Children’s Story Centre in Stratford for ten days, transforming every corner into a treasure trove of words, pictures and stories.

The world famous illustrator, Axel Scheffler will also be there introducing his new characters Posy & Pip. Also Illustrator extraordinaire Ed Vere will be drawing mostly monsters with maybe some jazzy gorillas – nice!

Aspiring illustrators and authors might like the chance to meet industry professionals on World Book Day on Thursday 3rd March. Featuring talks by Anne McNeil from Hodder Children’s Books, local hero John Newman from Newham Bookshop and Julia Eccleshare, top Children’s book editor of The Guardian.

Also find out about the future of Apps on Thursday 10th March with leading publisher Nosy Crow’s MD, Kate Wilson.

There’s something for everyone at Discover.

Our very own Alex T Smith is hosting a workshop for children aged 5 and above on Saturday 12th March. He will be showing children how he created his character Claude and inviting them to take part in making their own adventures, in a game of Claude consequenses.

Claude’s first adventure is a trip to the city, where he becomes a local hero when he foils a robbery and saves the day.
