Lest we forget, today we commemorate armistice day and this year is a hundred years since the outbreak of World War One. The BBC commissioned Frances Castle to illustrate a series of images showing children what life was like in Britain during WW1 for their Primary website. Not only does it cover subjects such as the causes of the war but also a typical school day, what family homes were like and how developments in the technology, communications and weapons during the war, changed how it was fought.

You can see more of Frances’ amazing illustrations on her updated portfolio here.
