We love to find out what makes our illustrators tick – what inspires them, what their dream job would be and the process they go through to create their stunning visual worlds and the characters that inhabit them. Levi Pinfold‘s work hails from the Golden Age of illustration and is reminiscent of the old masters in its detail and traditional techniques. His stylised realism and enviable drawing skills and writing talent, have become much admired and critically acclaimed.
During a flying visit to London this summer to accept the Amnesty CILIP Honour for his illustrations in The Song From Somewhere Else, we took the opportunity to interview Levi and ask him all of these things and many more. Find out how he approaches a book project, collaborating with authors and what his advice would be to new illustrators.
