Graduating from Coventry University with a first-class honours degree Alex’s passion for gazing out of windows and people watching has strongly influenced the eclectic, diverse and fun filled characters that inhabit the pages of his books.

The Times have been quoted as referring to Alex's work as both elegant and filled with humour. With numerous award panels including the CILIP Kate Greenaway Medal, the Sainsbury's Book Award and the Waterstone's Children's Book Prize, UKLA Picture Book Awards and World Illustration Awards recognizing Alex's incredible talents. Alex was crowned World Book Day Illustrator in 2016 further building his public profile.

As a master of both storytelling and illustration Alex has created a clutch of best-selling and award-winning children’s books including the Claude series that has published worldwide in over 20 languages. Sixteen South lovingly adapted the books for an animated TV series, delighting ardent Claude and Sir Bobblysock fans and introducing this magical pair to a whole new audience. His book, How Winston Delivered Christmas has been picked up for a potential animated movie by Kelebek Media. Coop Troop 3D CGI animation for TV was co-created by Alex and Sixteen South and is available to watch on ITVX.
