Billy Partridge
To take a glimpse inside Billy’s mind is to find a world buzzing with characters, magic, and stories. Born in Nottingham, he spent his childhood surrounded by designers, wood-carvers, artists, and creatives of all kinds, watching cartoons and reading graphic novels. It’s no wonder then that he went on to study Illustration at Leeds Arts University, graduating with a First Class Honours degree before going on to win the World Illustration Awards’ ‘Artist Agents Award’, a 3x3 illustration award and a nomination for the V&A illustration awards.
Integral to Billy’s practise is a strong focus on characterisation, weaving together stories through bold imagery and atmospheric world-building. His inspirations range from classic Cartoon Network shows and animated films such as those of Studio Ghibli through to picture books, nature, folklore and mythology. When he isn’t doodling, Billy can usually be found scrambling through forests and attempting to read maps unsuccessfully somewhere in the Scottish Highlands.
While much of his work finds a home within publishing, Billy often works within the visual development and commercial fields too. He loves to put his abilities to use in branding, packaging design, and advertising, and ultimately aims to become the creator of an animated series of his own.
