Neal Layton has illustrated a new picture book written by John Hegley called Stanley’s Stick for Hodder Children’s Books. It features in the ¬†Children’s Booksellers’ Choice for June 2011, with a great review from Marilyn Brockelhurst from the Norfolk Children’s Book Centre, she writes;
” With wonderful rhythmic and delightfully quirky text, Stanley’s stick by John Hegley has all the ingredients of a classic picture book. Stanley’s imagination provides him with unlimited possibilities while he is in possession of a stick. For a while they are inseparable. A family outing to the seaside eventually gives Stanley the opportunity to let his friend go – and he flings him out to sea. But the next day, a new stick provides a fresh source of ideas for his lively mind”
