The Night Knight sees the return of the comedy partnership between Timothy Knapman and Steve May in this delightful new title for Oxford University Press, published this month.

The Oxford Reading Tree Story Sparks is an emotionally-engaging fiction series designed to fire children’s imaginations and develop their comprehension skills with some extra high-interest words to expand their vocabularies and enrich the stories. Steve’s dynamic, full colour illustrations are the perfect match for Timothy’s exuberant story.

Luke can’t get to sleep because he’s worried by noises in his house at night. His imagination runs riot and he thinks the creaks and rustling he can hear must be caused by all number of strange and terrible things. He cries out for help and it comes – in the form of the Night Knight, a knight in shining armour whose job it is to look after children when they sleep. So Luke and the Night Knight go through the house looking for the sources of all these troubling noises. However, the Night Knight turns out to be a bit scared himself and a bit… incompetent!

Check out more of Steve’s illustrations in Silly Name for a Monster, also written by Timothy Knapman.
