100 years of mischief and mayhem celebrated as Adam Stower reimagines Just William
Here they are in all their technicolour glory. Visually refreshed these new anniversary editions are sure to entice a huge new fanbase keen to disappear into the adventures and childlike freedoms of a bygone age.
It’s almost impossible to believe that fresh faced, irrepressibly mischievous Just William is 100 years old. First published a century ago written by Richmal Crompton this perennially popular schoolboy series now hits the shelves to delight a new generation of readers with contemporary, wildly funny covers designed by Adam Stower.
As the anniversary approaches Macmillan Children’s books have commissioned renowned character artist Adam Stower to illustrate 4 brand new vibrant covers for the series launching in mid-August. These classic well-loved tales featuring William and his gang of outlaws feature the original text written by Richmal Crompton and original internal illustrations by Thomas Henry. Each of the original titles will now showcase Adam’s new-look William and a selection of his infamous side-kicks.
Adam has worked prolifically with David Walliams and many other best-selling authors alongside creating his own wildly popular author/illustrated fiction and picture book titles including the fabulous King Coo series. With his inimitable talent for capturing the essence and personality of fictional characters Adam's depiction of this iconic literary hero couldn’t be more perfect and we are delighted with the final result
