This month we were delighted to be able to share the news that Bloomsbury Children’s Books are set to publish the final two books in the Harry Potter Illustrated Editions series, featuring Levi Pinfold’s illustrations throughout.

The hugely successful illustrated editions began their publishing journey in 2015 illustrated by Jim Kay, whose work was greatly admired, after many years working on the Harry Potter franchise Jim felt it was time to hand over the mantel, and with immense delight this prestigious project landed on the desk of Levi Pinfold. The perfect successor, Levi’s work will provide a seamless conclusion to this program of publishing. Renowned for his skills in fine detail, character development and world creation, Levi’s epic landscapes and highly emotive use of colour will conjure up all the magic and escapism required to capture the imaginations of Harry Potter fans old and new. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince will publish in October 2026.

Part of the Arena family since 2013 Levi Pinfold has constantly thrilled and amazed us with his exquisite creations. With numerous awards, best-sellers and rave reviews under his belt he has become a much-admired artist, working across a broad gambit of projects.

When Bloomsbury were looking for the next artist to capture the last two books in the series, Levi was the perfect choice. He had worked extensively on the intricately detailed back and white illustrations for the Hogwarts House Editions, each book in the seven book series has four  new cover designs, and their own distictive interiors for Gryfindor, Slyherin, Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw.

Levi then created full colour spreads for the recent publication, the Wizarding Almanac including the gorgeous double gatefold spread of the Forbidden Forest, an epic cinematic illustration which starts at dawn and ends at night with all manor of magical creatures depicted in its depths.

Now based in Australia Levi battelled against Cyclone Alfred to travel all the way to the UK to celebrate this momentous announcement. We were lucky enough to share some of Levi’s whirlwind visit.

At Bloomsbury HQ looking at the very first print of the double page spread illustration from Chapter 10, showing Harry and Dumbledore in the Headmaster's office, peering into the pensieve unlocking saved magical memories.

You can find Levi on Instagram, where he recently posted about the exciting news...

"I’m enormously grateful and proud and excited to be working on the illustrated editions of Half Blood Prince and Deathly Hallows!

I have been a huge fan of Jim’s work since I was given A Monster Calls as a present when it was first published. I remember 25 year old me thinking, Now THAT’S how it’s done! Having been continually awed and inspired by his trailblazing work on this series ever since, I feel like saying ‘big shoes’ would be an understatement. And the wonderful Neil Packer too! Blimey, two sets!

Thankyou to those who have already been so welcoming and encouraging after the announcement, here we go!"
