Neal Layton, Thomas Flintham and Aleksei Bitskoff have all illustrated some utterly fantastic books which have been nominated for the Doncaster Book Award! Neal’s Uncle Gobb and the Dread Shed, by Michel Rosen, was longlisted in the Primary list with Tom’s and Aleksei’s. Tom’s The Spy who Loved School Dinners by Pamela Butchart and Aleksei’s The Adventures of Long Arm, by Sam and Mark, have both recently been shortlisted.
The Doncaster Book Award began twelve years ago and is currently in it’s twelfth year. Started by a group of school librarians for an award local to Doncaster, picked by children for them to engage with books, giving them a voice and making reading fun.
